Nashville Tennessee (PRWEB) January 17, 2012

While researching material for the Making Babies Series, Bulk Herb Store (BHS) learned over 98% of healthy women under a trained midwife’s care can safely have a natural home birth. Years ago the induction rate was about 8%. Today it is over 80%, not because of emergencies, but because of convenience. Induction provides an unnatural medication which prevents the natural hormonal process from giving the mother an easier labor and most importantly prevents the natural bonding a mother and newborn experience during the first few moments of life. This can never be replaced. A CNN report showed the U.S. with all of its advanced medical care has the second highest infant mortality rate among developed countries

Without drugs, the complications and need for a C-section is dramatically reduced. Less than 2% of healthy women need a C-section. Women are not adequately told their options! Women need to know their options. They need to be informed to have the ultimate natural birth experience.

Today OB/GYN’s are happy with scheduling C-sections. No longer do they have to be at the hospital through a 10-12 hour labor. In NY more C-sections are scheduled by the doctors at 4:00 p.m. and then again at 10:00 p.m. so they can perform this major surgery in less than a half hour, and be home in time for dinner or the late night news.

Why is it that so many healthy, low risk women are receiving C-sections? Answers can include labor intervention drugs, not providing mothers with informed choices, a relaxed attitude about C-section surgery (major surgery), fear of malpractice claims, insurance regulations, and time efficiency. Tragically most OB/GYNs have never witnessed a natural birth.

Having a baby is a miracle! It is a spectacular event when the sperm and egg meet and make a life inside of a woman. A tiny living heartbeat. A tiny living soul. A baby that is part of every mother, living inside of her body. A mother is its very life. A mother nourishes her baby and helps it grow. She introduces it to food, sound, movement, feelings, and so much more. She is a Mother!

Bulk Herb Store, a family owned business by James and Shoshanna Easling was established in 1998 and is located in Lobelville TN. They recently expanded their business by starting a publishing division for the publication of the Making Babies Series adding to their product line of Herbs, Herbal Mixes, Water Filters, Videos, Books, and Heirloom Seeds.

Their site offers herbal solutions for conditions from Acne to Yeast Infections and everything in between for both the new herb users to the experienced herbalist. The more read from their website, the more confident a person will be with herbs and natural remedies.

The Making Bay Series follows Shoshanna from shortly after the birth of her first child through the natural home delivery of her second child. The events are chronicled through her book and video series and is packed full of interviews with natural and medical specialists including, Dr. Jay Gordon, MD, FAAP; Nancy A. Armetta, MD; Hohan C. Dinklemann and DC; Elaine M. Wakefield, CNM; prominent healthcare professionals.

The Making Babies series mixes modern advances with grandma’s wisdom taking readers back in time to when 95% of babies were delivered in the comforts of home (1900). Since 1955 only about 1% of births are at home and that number remains unchanged today. In many countries midwives account for 70%-80% of all births resulting in a higher survival rate for mother and baby. Know the facts. The birth experience should be selected by the mother not the doctor.

The series is a natural approach to pregnancy, birth, using herbs, diet and exercise. It is designed to show the simplicity, beauty, and pure fun a natural pregnancy and birth can be. It is an alternative to having a baby in a hospital setting.

The 480 page Book is presented in a fun, informational, artistic, and colorful manner. Readers will learn many ways to stay active and healthy as a mother builds her baby.

The DVDs are over seven hours of information covering deliciously healthy recipes, wonderful gluten-free recipes, grandma’s remedies, herbal concoctions, and need-to-know facts, and is packed with research about fertility, conception, morning sickness, pregnancy, birth, nursing, postpartum issues, losing weight, and more!

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) December 20, 2011

Catherine Company announces publication of the hardcover edition of The Jewel Collar and Hannah the Hummingbird. Christine captivated children and adults alike all over the world with her first children’s picture book, The Jewel Collar, which introduced us to an endearing group of animal friends who reside in a garden in California and protect each other. Aristotle, the main character receives a jewel collar that he decides to share with his friends. So begins Ari’s tradition of sharing the jewels with new friends so they won’t feel lonely. Together, the garden animals decorate their Christmas tree with the jewels so they can all share their treasure.

Hannah the Hummingbird is the follow up story and continues the charming tale of the Garden Friends Club.

Hannah the Hummingbird continues the story by introducing us to Hannah, the mother hummingbird who is getting ready to hatch her two eggs. Children of all ages and adults as well will enjoy reading about how Hannah builds her nest, how the eggs are hatched and meeting the two baby hummingbirds Hayley and Harry. The two baby hummingbirds are welcomed into the Garden Friends Club by Ari and the loyal menagerie of animals residing there. The bravery with which Hayley and Harry take their first flight reminds us all of the first time we left our warm and cozy nests to venture out into the world.

Ms. Roberts’ delightful tale is one you will enjoy reading with your children. As a parent, you want your children to always feel safe. The animal garden friends of The Jewel Collar and Hannah the Hummingbird reinforces the idea that even though it isn’t always possible for you to be there with them all the time, you will always surround them with love and with others who will watch over them as well.

With the popularity and demand for Ms. Roberts’ first two children’s books, Catherine Company decided to produce the books in full color hardcover edition for purchase on Amazon.com. These books are ones that all parents of young children should invest in. Purchase Christine Karol Roberts on Amazon or order the hardcover editions directly through the publisher, Catherine Company, at http://www.catherinecompany.co.

The Jewel Collar and Hannah the Hummingbird are also available for download at Amazon.com, Apple iBookstore, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Diesel and Sony ebookstores.

Here’s what people are saying about the books:

I also truly enjoyed this book Its a great book that you can read to your children as a family and I plan on doing so as it gets closer to Christmas so they can understand the meaning of Love and how it all ties in with the Holidays.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) January 04, 2012

It is often said there is no better gift you can give a child than love. I See Me!’s personalized storybook, Who Loves Me?, is a perfect gift this Valentine’s Day to show that special little someone in your life just how much he or she is loved.

The Who Loves Me? personalized storybook shows the names of family members and/or friends who love the child. The storybook is written in playful and melodious rhyme that encourages the child to reach to the sky when asked “how much” each person loves him or her. Author Jennifer Dewing reassures the child they are loved “so much” by each, with unique and touching rhymes describing the depth of each individual’s love. For example, for a child named Emily the book begins, “Who loves Emily? Mommy loves Emily! How much? So much! More than the mountains, more than the streams, more than a little girl’s happiest dreams.” Award-winning illustrator, Maria Caruluccio, draws the child into each page with colorful, hand-illustrated nature scenes.

According to Dawn Matheson, Executive Director of The Mom’s Choice Awards, “The Who Loves Me?” personalized children’s storybook makes a unique baby gift. A reassuring message of love, told in rhyming verse, is paired with whimsical illustrations. I See Me! storybooks are beautifully designed, high-quality and durable–meaning they can withstand countless readings by energetic little hands. Our judges love them!”

Like all I See Me! Inc. books, Who Loves Me? is personalized with the child’s first and last name and includes a dedication to the child from the sender. Who Loves Me? retails for $ 24.95 and is available online where you can also take a free virtual storybook tour and watch a new promotional video on YouTube. This unique personalized storybook arrives within two weeks of ordering (must be ordered by January 30th in order to receive it for Valentine’s Day).

I See Me! Inc. creates high-quality personalized books that celebrate the uniqueness of each child. According to I See Me! Co-Founders Maia and Allan Haag, “Our company’s goal is to build self-esteem in young children as they read these keepsake books.” For more information, visit http://www.ISeeMe.com or call 1-877-744-3210.

(PRWEB) December 14, 2011

On April 28, 2008, Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water radio talk show, interviewed Scott Jens, DO Chairman of American Optometric Association’s “InfantSee” program. The topic was eye care, eyesight preservation and dry eye prevention for children in a changing global environment. Sharon Kleyne noted that despite great medical advances, there are still 37 million blind people in the world. Most blindness begins in childhood and 75% is preventable.

The interview may be heard on World Talk Radio, Voice America, Green Talk Network, Apple iTunes, sponsored by Nature’s Tears® EyeMist®

The InfantSee program, sponsored by the AOA and Johnson and Johnson, provides free vision and dry eye screenings to infants and also tracks global risk factors. Although screenings primarily focus on poor areas, their recommendations on childhood vision health apply to everyone.

Sharon Kleyne noted that the risk of dry eye and other eye problems in children and adults increases as the air gets dryer, both indoors and outdoors. The air in most delivery rooms also may be too dry.

According to Dr. Jens, one child in 20 is born with vision problems, with nearsightedness and amblyopia the most common. In amblyopis, the eyes don’t communicate well with the brain. It’s also called, inaccurately, “lazy eye syndrome.” One child in 20,000 is born with retinoblastoma, a serious eye cancer. With retinoblastoma, the eye must be removed, a sad but life-saving procedure.

Dr. Jens recommends nutritious meals when pregnant, and avoiding alcohol and illegal drugs. These drastically raise the incidence of abnormal vision. Second-hand smoke may also affect a child’s vision. Infants should be well nourished and kept in a clean environment.

Dr. Jens recommends vision checks at birth, six months and one year. For the first three months, when vision is still mostly unfocused, he suggests making sure there are objects within a foot of the baby, where they can see clearly.

Dr. Jens described another AOA eye care program, Healthy Eyes – Healthy People, that stresses health and nutrition. Vision, he states, is a learned behavior, like walking, and should be nurtured both physically and nutritionally. We also need to be taught to observe, and how to react appropriately to what we see. Learning is 90% visual. To learn, children should be well rested, have sufficient anti-oxidants in their diet and get plenty of vitamin A and zinc.

Sharon Kleyne mentioned that a former Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water guest, Marguerite McDonald, MD, recommends dark green leafy vegetables and omega-3 fatty acids for good eyesight.

According to Dr. Jens, children with abnormal eyesight do less well in school and have more behavioral problems. When vision is corrected early, academic and behavior problems usually correct themselves.

There is nothing more important to learning than eye care. School-age poor vision symptoms include covering one eye while reading, squinting, headaches, poor grades and social withdrawal. Computers are terrible for eyes and should be strictly limited by parents.

Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® is well tolerated by infants and children. The product provides an all-natural, pH balanced water mist to soothe dry eyes in high risk situations or when working at a computer. Apply Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® as often as desired. Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® is available at http://www.BioLogicAqua.com, Amazon.com, drugstore.com and selected drugstores nationwide.

Rowlett, TX (PRWEB) December 29, 2011

The early 1930s wasn’t a pleasant time for many, with the Great Depression and World War II disrupting the lives of millions of Americans. Author Sonja G. Farr however didn’t let these trying times get to her. In her new memoir “Memories of a Depression Baby … Just Kidding Around: The Only Thing That Disappears Faster than a Summer Vacation Is Childhood” (published by WestBow Press), she paints a vivid description of surviving as a kid growing up during the Great Depression.

While times were hard, children always found a way to amuse themselves in spite of the difficult conditions. “There was very little money to spend on entertainment, so we devised our own methods of amusement,” explains Farr. “There were no televisions, cell phones, video games, iPods, etc. We didn’t even have electric typewriters, but we thought we had it all. We just didn’t know any better.”

An excerpt from “Memories of a Depression Baby” – Grandad’s Farm:

Another treat at the farm was the deep creek at the back of the property. I didn’t get to go down there often and never alone, because of my young age. But I did get to go with the adults and cousins sometimes to watch them fish. I wasn’t old enough to catch a fish by myself, so most of the time when the fishing was going on, I stayed back at the farmhouse. I wasn’t disappointed, though, because I liked to watch my grandmother cook on that big old black stove in the kitchen anyway. It was a great delight to sample those fresh foods and delicious ham that came from that farm kitchen, provided by the labor of my grandparents. One of grandmother’s biscuits was almost a meal in itself, but the slice of ham and fresh corn on the cob smeared with butter could not be matched anywhere. All that was washed down with fresh milk from their cow or sweet water from their well. Are you hungry yet?

In “Memories of a Depression Baby”, Farr shares a number of touching and fun stories from her younger years. Readers will learn valuable lessons as they read of three kids who never gave up trying to have a happy childhood in spite of adverse situations such as the Great Depression and World War II.

About the Author

Sonja G. Farr lived through the Great Depression. She managed to survive due to a strong Christian upbringing in a close-knit family unit. Farr grew up in a large city but now lives in a small town in Texas, close to her daughter and grandchildren. She is a former bank officer and small business owner, and is now filling her retirement years writing about past personal experiences.

Houston, TX. (PRWEB) October 26, 2011

A new consumer website created to help sort through the endless stream of so-called life extension products hitting the market these days, launched last week. The website, called antiagingsupplementnews.org, will focus on supplementation and, according to it’s stated editorial mission, will “attempt to separate the hucksters from real science in the supplement industry.”

According to the National Census Bureau, Baby Boomers are currently turning 65 at the rate of 10,000 per day, “and their appetite for supplements that promote better health while turning back the hands of time appears to be insatiable” says the website. “Our goal is to carefully look at as many of these anti-aging products as possible, especially the ones drawing tons of hype, and give our readers a detailed, unbiased assessment.”

The website is comprised of journalists, many of whom were displaced by a downturn in newspaper industry. “We’ve been fortunate to assemble a group of top investigative reporters, some of whom found themselves out of a job amid plummeting newspaper subscriptions and impossible budget constraints,” said antiagingsupplementnews.org spokesman Dwayne Anders. “We just gave them a list of products, and no restrictions… and told them to do what they’ve always done, investigate!”

One of the first assignments for this experienced investigatory team was a new supplement that claimed to be a super antioxidant-rich formulation that increased cardiovascular health by lowering cholesterol, among other health benefits, such as energy levels, and vision as well.

Anders said the first stages of their report can be read at the website, but briefly, the product combines brown seaweed extract, squid extract and Vitamin D. “We noticed that this product, called Marine D-3, had been getting some press recently, so it seemed like a good place to start.”

“While the choice of ingredients were intriguing, we wanted to take a closer look at the person or group behind the product itself,” Anders said. “It turns out that the product was formulated by Dr. Richard Linchitz, a medical doctor who graduated with honors from Cornell University Medical College and went on to found the first nationally accredited, outpatients multispecialty pain program in New York. That was important to us, because we see so many products that are backed by huge marketing companies merely looking to make a fast buck.”

According to Anders, the key ingredient in Dr. Linchitz’s supplement is a brown seaweed derivative, known as Seanol, which is harvested at depths of 100 feet off the coast of Japan and Korea.

“The doctor’s work with this supplement, and in his practice, is based on the fact that marine animals have the strongest natural defense systems on earth, thriving in the harshest of environments due largely to their diet, and their ability stave off cell damage,” reports antiagingsupplementnews.org. “We were able to confirm that the Seanol is indeed up to 100 times more powerful than better known antioxidant land-based sources, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, blueberries, green tea, and red grape resveratrol.”

Anders said his team also examined the ORAC scale (the recognized method for measuring antioxidant potency), and found the brown seaweed (Seanol) used in Dr. Linchit’s product registered at 8,368 compared to blueberries, for example, which have a rating value of 2,400. “At this point, it’s heard to dispute that antioxidants value of this product, but we have more work to do before we reach a final verdict on the product.

The website says it’s also looking at seven additional products that are making longevity claims. “One of them is a product that is formulated with snail trail slime, if you can believe that,” he said. “The point is, there’s no shortage of investigative work for our reporters in this multi-billion dollar industry.

For reporting on supplements related to anti-aging, you can read the latest product reviews and get free reports at http://antiagingsupplementnews.org/.
